Welcome to Junior Leadership Saginaw

This is the 9th year of the Jr. Leadership Saginaw Program. The program was started, in 2000, by a group of leaders who had just completed the Leadership Saginaw Program sponsored by the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce. The group had spent nearly a year together experiencing Arts, Culture, Diversity, History, Education and Law Enforcement in Saginaw County.

The Class of 2000 met after its graduation from the adult program and asked each other how they could pay it forward, thus, the creation of the Jr. Leadership Saginaw Program.

Many adults from other graduating classes of the Leadership Saginaw Program have joined to team to make the program even stronger. We wouldn't be able to keep the program going without the amazing group of volunteers that make up the committee.

The Jr. Leadership Saginaw Program targets 8th and 10th grade students from throughout Saginaw County. Each year, 24 students are selected from a group of applicants. The students spend one day a month together learning about leadership, diversity, arts/culture/education, history and law enforcement in Saginaw County. Graduation from the program takes place in May.

If you are interested in the program, talk to your school principal or counselor. Fill out the online application. If accepted, we will mail your school and parents a consent form to be signed and returned. You must agree to attend each class and make arrangements for transportation to each of the session - breakfast and lunch are provided.
